Lance went on to attend North Carolina State University, graduating the school of Engineering with a Computer Science degree. His first professional job was back home in Apex, at Data General (now EMC). He then went on to work as a senior software engineer at several companies in RTP, including Cisco for 12 years, where he managed a software team for 5 years and served as a Program Manager for 3 years providing business operation solutions. Since 2012, he serves as the Director of Business Operations and is an Officer at Better Boards, a local electronics design firm.
Lance volunteered on the Apex Planning (and Zoning) Board from 2003 to 2009, serving as its Vice Chairman the last two years. In 2009, Lance ran for town council with the vision of making a bigger difference in Apex and finished first of seven candidates. Lance knew that he had the trust of the people of Apex and a mandate to govern better.
Today, Lance wants to serve as your mayor in Apex. His desire is to share your vision for Apex with the town council, leading and guiding, while letting all of Wake County know that Apex is moving forward and relevant. Lance cares about Apex like no other candidate, and he does it for you.
Raised in Apex by Ross Olive (of Fuquay) and Nancy Olive, née Mills (of Apex), Lance learned early the value of strong ethics, a solution-oriented approach and a cooperative spirit. He went to work in Apex early in life, selling newspapers, working at the downtown soda counter and pharmacy, and driving a school bus for all the Apex schools.
